http://www.facebook.com/pages/BELOW-THE-SURFACE/282275579443
Cape Town that relate to what was the focal point of the social life for the first 200 years – The water.
This experience was born from a team build exercise and has grown since into an holistic experience. This tunnel is steeped in South Africa’s earliest history and legend, and has a strong adventure element too. This is exploration of what was once an open river flowing down the slopes of Table Mountain to the ocean, feeding the early Van Riebeeck settlement.
We will meet at the Castle and take you to the entrance from here. At the entrance we will descend into the depths of the city’s underground passageways and explore the historic that was once an open river running down the slopes ofTable Mountain . The run-off from Platteklip and Silverstroom gorge converges at the foot of the mountain and was know in the hay-day as the 'Varsche rivier' which ran down the face of the mountain discharging into the sea. This is the reason the settlers choose Cape Town as a refreshment station, and is now one of the oldest catchment tunnels in South Africa .
All patrons will enter the tunnel, through a cast iron manhole, at the foot ofTable Mountain . Each issued with gumboots and a flashlight.
The tunnel is extremely clean and well ventilated. Natural lighting adds to the ambian ce of the walk and the air is fresh. This experience makes for great photographs and memories. The guide will enlighten us on the history of the tunnel, how it shaped the city of Cape Town in the 1800’s and brought much anguish and relief to its rulers and governors. The walk will reveal various architectural elements, mineral deposits (Stalactites), and natural life found e.g. fresh water crabs. There are no rats in this tunnel.
Our minimum number of patrons required are 10. Only those suffering from sever claustrophobia, high blood pressure and week joints in the lower extremities need to consult our team. A medium level of physical exertion will be required. Those capable of scaling 3 flights of stairs, unassisted, poses the physical capability to complete this exercise.

What a dramatic day...thank goodness. The cloud provided much needed shade and allowed for amazing photographs. The group were collected from their offices and taken to the dunes 45min outside of Cape Town. Here they enjoyed 4x4ing in the Willys jeeps, quad biking and Sandboarding. The ground was nice and hard due to rain fall from the previous night. Then it was off to Boesmanland Plaas kombuis for a hearty West Coast buffet before Jetskiing and Massage and Clyb Mykonos. The day really gave the group the time and space to connect at a new level. Humour was high and the group inspired.
A successful day. Thanks team.
